Blue Ridge Parkway
Visitor Center
The Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center, is located just outside of Asheville, at parkway milepost 384. This is a beautiful, state of the art, building. The Green structure is LEED-certified, with displays explaining about its construction. Inside you will find a museum about the Parkway and Appalachian heritage. There are several interactive exhibits. One of which, is a huge map that allows you to move a scroll bar across it displaying points of interest along the parkway. This is always a favorite of the children. Also there is a 70 seat theatre which shows a movie about the Parkway’s history and biodiversity.
If you plan on hiking, want to check on closures, looking for things to do, or have a question about safety conditions, the rangers and staff will be more than happy to assist.
This is a great first stop, when beginning your trip, planning your vacation, or just making a day visit.
