Co-ed Cinema
The Co-ed Cinema is not the nearest theater to us, however, it is by far our favorite theater. It has been around for over 75 years and became the Co-ed Cinema in the early 1930’s. The theater is located in beautiful downtown Brevard. If you plan on seeing a movie, you can make a day of it. Shop or dine in the locally owned restaurants and stores then make the short walk to the Co-ed and enjoy a movie.
Yes, the floor creaks when you walk, there aren’t as many seats as the megaplex theaters and the person who sells you your ticket has to run back and take your snack order, but this theater is amazing. The movie quality is good and you feel the rumble from the sound system without hearing other movies trough the walls. Large crowds are rare and the staff is courteous and willing to tell you about the Co-ed’s history. Ticket prices are reasonable and the movies are current. There are only three showings per day (1pm, 4pm, 7pm) so don’t plan on seeing a super late showing.
The theater is located in beautiful downtown Brevard. If you want to shop or are hungry there are restaurants and locally owned stores within walking distance. We enjoy camping in the Pisgah National Forest and making the short drive to see a movie in the evening.
