Mabry Mill

Mabry Mill

Mabry Mill is a nice place to visit if you want to see early Appalachian life and give the children open spaces with buildings and displays see and touch. The mill sits right off the parkway on the side of a small pond with water running over the water wheel. There is also a cabin, blacksmith shop and sorghum mill on site. The home was built in the late 1800’s and the mill in the early 1900’s.

During the year they have various events which highlight the area such as Appalachian music and Fall Gathering Days. This is one of the most, if not the most, photographed mill in the country. It has even been put on postcards from other states. To avoid crowds you may want to avoid peak leaf season and holidays. If you must come during one of these times arrive early morning or late afternoon to take pictures without the crowds.
